Programs We Offer

At NC Construction Academy, we offer various programs to help excel your knowledge in the areas of construction of all types.  Some of these programs include NC General Contractors Licensed Prep Courses, NC General Contractors Continuing Education, OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health.

Below: A more advanced look at our programs...

Continuing Education

We offer continuing education to general contractors in the state of North Carolina. All our courses are board approved to help general contractors receive the credits they need to renew their license for their annual requirements. We teach a huge variety of elective courses from our curriculum and have multiple Board approved instructors, certified to teach all of our courses including the State Mandatory Courses (of current year) as required by statute. We offer our continuing education courses “in-person” and “online” as well. Obtain all the hours you need, in one place, at one time.

OSHA 10 Hour

NC Construction Academy offers the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certificate Card. All of our courses on safety are taught by certified OSHA Authorized Trainers. Hourly credits that are obtained by attending our “Safety in Construction” series (courses 1-5) are eligible to be accredited towards the OSHA 10 certificate card. In addition, if a student would like to seek out further safety education they will be able to use the hours obtained from the OSHA 10-Hour certificate to go towards an OSHA 30-Hour certificate as well. Any general contractors wishing to attend these courses may also couple their hours (simultaneously) as credits towards there continuing education, as well. Hit two birds, with one stone, with our Safety in Construction 1-5 series. All of our instructors that teach the OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour are also approved to teach continuing education hours. Safety instructors have worked in the field of OSHA and have a very professional and in-depth understanding of what safety and construction means, especially in the world of how we build today.

OSHA 30 Hour

We also offer the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health certificate card. This is a more in-depth view into the world of safety in construction and the OSHA standards as well. This 30-Hour course gets deeper into the 1926 OSHA Construction Industry Regulations and Standards rulebook. While OSHA-10 students are more apt to learn a broad view of health risk and job hazards, the OSHA-30 takes amore detailed dive into the specifics about what we (as general contractors and sub-contractors) should know about our fields and the safety concerns that we are responsible for. In many cases, clients or financial institutions may require that only companies able to produce some degree or certificate of safety education be allowed to perform work on their jobs. This certificate can come in handy in the form of many different way.

Fields of Interest

At NC Construction Academy we teach a variety of different courses, all of which are centered around making you a more informed and educated professional in your construction career. Although we have a variety of different courses in our calendars, we have been able to align specific courses into groups, to allow for advanced teaching in specific fields of interest. Some of these specific fields from our curriculum are Safety, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Code Compliance, and Computers & Technology.
Below: A more advanced look at our fields of interest.

Computers & Technology

In this field of interest, we offer a collection of courses geared towards helping contractors understand some of the technology we may have at our fingertips these days, and to get a look at some of the techniques on how we might use this technology for ourselves and for our clients. Some of these courses are Blower Door Diagnostics, Computers in Construction I & Computers in Construction II. Our Computers in Construction I course is perfect for contractors that are looking to get into some of the basics about computers. Our Computers in Construction II course is wonderful for those that are a little more advanced and are looking to get an edge out of some of our “tips and tricks” and/or troubleshooting. In both these courses we also look at some programs that are very useful for general contractors in the work field today. Not only do we try to show you some of the aspects of the computer and new technology today but, we also try to make sure that that is tied in with how you can use it in your career.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation

In this field of interest, we offer a collection of courses aimed at helping us to build better as contractors and to build wiser for our growing consumer demands. Some of these courses are Energy Basics I&II, The World of Weatherization, and Blower Door Diagnostics. Our certified instructors are BPI certified as Building Analyst and Energy Auditors to give you a “boot on the grounds” look at to what we can do as contractors to build more advanced and more efficient building. Our classes are designed to teach building techniques that last more than decades, but well into the next centuries.

Construction Codes

In this field of interest, we offer a collection of courses targeted at helping general contractors stay up-to-date about new codes changes and recent code amendments. Some of these courses are Code Interpretations I, Code Interpretations II, and Code Amendments. We also take a look at some commonly misunderstood code questions and take a look at what some would refer to as a ‘good ole’ “basic review”. In our basic review we go over some common code “refreshers” and help keep our minds sharp on what we know, what we think we know, and what we should know. Our code refresher courses are Residential Roofing and Wood Decks Awakened.

Licensing Prep Classes

We offer an in-depth view at the state building codes, safety, site work, concrete, masonry, metals, carpentry, roofing, plan reading, business and law and more as we prepare our students for all the necessities to becoming a general contractor in the state of North Carolina. Our academy uses materials gathered from professionals in the field and reference materials from the test to help students have a greatly increased chance of passing the Building and/or Residential Contractors Licensing test, on the first time it is taken. In our pursuit to satisfy we work with our prep-students through this process until they have satisfied the passing of their pursued exam. Specialty License prep courses can be included on a case-by-case basis as well.
